Producción de combustibles a partir del aire con fotosíntesis artificial
Alberto Islas el 16-11-09 Joule Technologies anuncio un avance en la generación de combustible a partir de dióxido de carbono presente en el aire. La tecnología se basa en los microorganismos fotosintéticos de alta ingeniería que se alimentan de la luz solar y CO2 para generar combustible de diferentes tipos.
Producción de combustibles fotosinteticos
El tipo de combustible producido depende del tipo de organismo utilizado, donde el resultado final varía a partir de etanol al diesel, estas son algunas de sus ventajas
No produce la biomasa
No necesita materias primas agrícolas
Puede llevarse a cabo en tierras no cultivables
No necesita agua limpia
El combustible se produce directamente, sin la necesidad de la extracción o refinamiento
Este avance es un excelente ejemplo de cómo muchas de las soluciones que necesitamos frente a los problemas ecológicos que tenemos se encuentran en la misma naturaleza en este caso al imitar la maravillosa fotosíntesis, para poder reciclar el Co2 que esta calentado nuestro planeta en combustibles incluso más verdes como el etanol para no tener que seguir extrayendo más petróleo que seguiría calentando nuestro planeta.
Aunque no es una solución radical al problema del uso de combustibles que producen gases efecto invernadero es un gran avance que sin duda ayuda a reducir el calentamiento global.
